ISS server startup/recomendations?

Postby adhodgson » Mon Mar 06, 2006 3:37 pm

Hi,

Firstly is there a mailing list for Scalix - it is a lot easier to use than a forum, as I tend to read emails as they come in.

Also, what is the default state of the ISS daemon? I did an installation this morning and it seemed to be turned off - is this by design, should I make sure it is enabled? I have managed to sort out the database sync with some notes I found on Openmail, but if I restart the system or do a shutdown on the Scalix service then when it is back up again I loose the ISS service.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi,

I think you can put the topic on 'watch', as an alternative to mailing list.

Scalix ships with ISS switched off by default to save resource for the users who do not use it. If you need to use ISS, then it can be activated - see man page for omsetsvc.

Regards,
Danny

You can actually also set the system up to send you a daily digest of everything new in the forum for the last 24 hours. I get mine everyday at 1800 CET. Just hit digests near the top of every page when logged in.

On ISS, you will only need ISS when you want to prepare for Single User Restore. Check out the Article on ISDB, ISS and SUR found in Knowledgebase on scalix.com.

Cheers,
Florian.
