Cannot add user

Postby kevinm128 » Wed Jan 02, 2008 2:15 pm

Hi,

Running Scalix 11.2.0.11121 on RHEL4

We are unable to add a new user. The error from omaddu is:

[root@mail ~]# omaddu -n "User Name/mailnode"
omaddu : [OM 8256] The Internet Address is already assigned to
another local user on the mailnode.

And in SAC the error is:

The specified Internet address is already assigned to an existing user/group

The user is not found with omsearch, omscan, or omdelu and I have run omadmidp -u -x -v -f.

The user does not appear in SAC.

The error "OM 8256" does not show up in the logs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Mikev

Hi

\Hmmm the message says excatly what it means.

You will need to look through each user and group for an email address that is the same as the one your are trying to add. You WILL find it.

Maybe you have an alias for a user that has the email address in question, or a alias for a group etc.

Try a omdelent -e "G=Firstname/S=Lastname"

That will delete all entries for that user - then try to re-add it.

Instead of looking through each user and group to find the e-mail address, simply use the filter option in SAC. (edit filters button, select e-mail) This way you can find quickly which user or group has the e-mail address in use..

We still can't find it. Omdelent says that user is not in the directory.

[root@mail logs]# omdelent -e "G=first/S=last"
G=first/S=last
[OM 16954] Entry not in the Directory

We have also looked through the users and groups in SAC without finding that entry.

Try this:

omsearch -e IA-FORMAL=address@domain.com -m G/S/CN

and

omsearch -e IA-FORMAL=address@domain.com

Same result.

[root@mail ~]# omsearch -e IA-FORMAL=first.last@ourdomain.com -m G/S/CN
[OM 16954] Entry not in the Directory

[root@mail ~]# omsearch -e IA-FORMAL=first.last@ourdomain.com
[OM 16954] Entry not in the Directory

Could possibly be in the userlist directory, though that would mean a failed add/delete sometime in the past.

omsearch -e IA-FORMAL=address@domain.com -d USERLIST -t h

Could be something else causing this, but it would be hard to track down without access to the machine.

Unless one of the others on here can think of a solution, I suggest you contact a Scalix reseller or talk to Scalix themselves to see if they can solve this for you.

I agree - something is just not right and causing this issue - everything points to it not being there, but for some reason it is still hanging around.

Same issue for me, I rebuilt smatcache on Client side to fix

Postby renoir » Thu Sep 04, 2008 2:41 pm

I shut down Outlook, went to Control Panel, opened up the Mail Icon to get all the way into the "View Scalix Properties", and Rebuilt the Smartcache at the bottom of the "Support" Tab.

One I re-logged back into Outlook, and tried sending to the same user that was issue with the OM 9300, and now all works fine. Also, this user was in my Scalix "Contacts" and I removed them prior to doing the SmartCache reset.

All appears to be working now and sending through to the user that was removed from the system and now resides remotely.

How I fixed it

Postby thomstratton » Tue Nov 11, 2008 8:09 am

I was experiencing this same problem in Scalix 11. I fixed it by going to SAC and going to "Server Info" and changing the "Mail Address Domain" to a different domain than the one I was using in my omaddu script.

Maybe this is obvious to some, I am very new to scalix. It worked for me.... hope this helps others.
