Strange IMAP issue - preferences not found, GUI022, SOAP027

Postby Valerion » Fri Sep 21, 2007 5:59 am

I had a strange issue today, not sure what the cause could be. Scalix 11.1.0 on RHEL4.

Since Monday or so the people using SWA at one of my customers was complaining that they cannot access their mail via SWA. I tried the usual tricks (clearing the cache, switching the platform off, etc), to no avail. The errors they were getting was mostly #GUI022 and SOAP #27, IIRC. Scalix Mobile wasn't working either.

I eventually got SWA to access the users' mailboxes, but it came back with a "Invalid MIME" message. I was also getting quite a few errors related to user preferences in the SWA logs, which almost made me delete and recreate the offending mailboxes.

As a last-ditch effort to get the MIME errors to go away, I decided to drop the contents of ~/temp, ~/logs (to get shorter logs) and ~/tmp. After restarting Scalix and SWA and running sxmkindex -r 0 and omtidyallu -M all my problems suddenly disappeared and SWA and Scalix Mobile was working perfectly.

Not sure why the MIME cache would get corrupted, but I thought I'd share in case someone else ran into this issue.

What was needed to get access to their mailbox again? I have a user that when she tries to send an email to 25 users or so from SWA, it locks her account and throws #GUI022 and SOAP #27. EL4 with Scalix 11.1.0.

This was a general server-wide issue, not limited to a specific user or condition.

In this case it may be an issue with having 25 recipients - I haven't tested that yet as all our upstream servers reject recipient lists of more than 10 users to prevent spam.
