Authentication across Scalix and Samba

Postby piguetl » Thu Sep 30, 2004 2:56 pm

Does anybody have recommendations into providing unified authentication across Scalix and Samba, to centralize user logins/password for Scalix and file server(s)?

I am guessing one way to do this would be to have Samba use the Scalix LDAP service (but I am not sure about securing the LDAP directory).

Another way would be to set up a separate OpenLDAP, used by both Scalix and Samba for user authentication.

Any ideas, or a HOWTO (maybe)?

Support for PAM-based authentication with OpenLDAP or any v3 compliant ldap directory has been a capability of Scalix since January of this year. Send a request into the support mailbox (support@scalix.com) and we can send you a how-to guide.
