after restore - can't login

Postby joshv » Mon Jan 01, 2007 12:10 pm

I need help please! TIA!

I lost my message store - long story. Had to do with moving to a new sever (not Scalix). I need to go back to a point in time in Scalix and get back my store to retrieve some messages.

First I deleted my existing /var/opt/scalix directory.
Then I restored from Tape the /var/opt/scalix dir.
Did a chown -R scalix.scalix /var/opt/scalix.
Then I started scalix.

Now when I try to login to ../webmail I get errors that indicate my password is incorrect. Which I know to be false.

A popup windows says: "The username or password is incorrect. Note that passwords are case sensitive. Try again."

"omshowlog -p 2" has no results.

So, I go into SAC and reset the password for the user just to be certain. Same results - same results for every user on the system in fact. I need help badly to get back into this store.

om stat looks like:
[root@edwards opt]# omstat -a
PC Monitor Started NON-STOP 0
Directory Relay Server Started 11:01:41
Notification Server Started 11:01:41 0
Shared memory daemon Started NON-STOP
Notification Monitor Started NON-STOP
Session Monitor Started NON-STOP
Container Access Monitor Started NON-STOP
Item Structure Server Stopped
Database Monitor Started 11:01:41
Licence Monitor Daemon Started NON-STOP
LDAP Daemon Started 11:01:41
Queue Manager Started NON-STOP
Item Delete Daemon Started NON-STOP
IMAP Server Daemon Started 11:01:41
SMTP Relay Started 11:01:41
Mime Browser Controller Started 11:01:41

What else can I include to help? Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Still having the same errors, however log now shows:

An efficient way to perform omscan to the mailbox is as below:

Code: Select all

omoff -d0 omscan
omscan -Z
omon omscan

You need to watch the status of the omscan process using the command:

Code: Select all

omscan -t

Wait until you get a message that says "Current server cycle not started;
service reset or delayed".

Now try to fix the mailstore related issues in active mode using the
below given command:

Code: Select all

omscan -Avfx -U <username>

Did you follow the above steps?

Subir

I did follow the above steps. I still receive the same error at login. omshowlog still shows:

WARNING IMAP Server Da(IMAP Server Pr) 01.02.07 15:16:45
[VISTA -4] Error -4 in db_vista.
User Name: Josh Van As / vanas/CN=Van As, Josh

<- /build/10.0.1.3/src/lib/ombase/dr/dr_opendir.c:542[4,-4]

For each time I try to login.

The file and directory permissions in the tree are a bit more fine-grained than what you produced now, i.e. some of the files in the tree are actually owned by the anonymous Unix user id that the user runs as.

When perfroming backup/restore, you are advised to use a backup tool (every!) that preserves file and directory permissions and ownership.

I'd think you should restore again, preserving those. You can try to use omcheck (see the manpage for details) to fixup your current message store, but you might end up in a pretty big mess.

Cheers,
Florian.
