Editions: Small Business Edition
Robust, single-server solution designed for small business.
Scalix Small Business Edition is a robust, single-server messaging solution designed for small businesses. It is based on Scalix Collaboration Platform, which serves as the foundation for all our product editions. In addition to the Scalix Collaboration Platform components and features, our Small Business Edition provides the following incremental capabilities:
Network-independent wireless solution
An optional 3rd party wireless solution that supports all leading devices is available for Premium Users of Small Business Edition. The wireless solution, NotifyLink Enterprise Mobility Solution for Scalix, is offered by Notify Technology Corporation. NotifyLink provides wireless access to all Scalix mailbox email and PIM (calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes) across a broad choice of wireless network technologies and wireless devices including Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices and Blackberries. For more information and a list of supported wireless devices, visit our NotifyLink page.
TNEF support for transparent Exchange co-existence
Small Business Edition offers full interoperability with proprietary Microsoft Exchange environments, using TNEF for transparent server-to-server co-existence. This gives you the option of maintaining a mixed environment or migrating over an extended period.
With Scalix, “what you see is what they sent.” You get full message and calendaring fidelity including fonts, tables, word wrapping, line breaks and other formatting as well as reply-ability. When you receive a meeting request from an Exchange user, for example, it looks and acts like your other meeting requests.
Instant, user-specific recovery of deleted items
Mail administrators live in fear of the phone call from an executive who has accidentally deleted an important presentation needed for a meeting that is about to begin. If it hasn’t happened to you already, you know some day it will. Scalix Small Business Edition solves this problem with the Recovery Folder feature. The Recovery Folder provides a means for Premium Users to rapidly recover deleted items on a user-specific basis. The Recovery Folder retains emails removed from the user’s Deleted Items folder. The Recovery Folder itself is hidden from the user’s view, but when needed you simply make it visible to the user with a click. The user then sees their Recovery Folder as they do any other mailbox folder and can retrieve their lost item. You can enable the feature and determine the retention period for Recover Folder contents on a user-specific basis. It works for all Small Business Edition Premium Users, on any client.
Active Directory Extensions
Scalix Mail Server integrates with any LDAP-based directory such as Microsoft Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, RedHat/Fedora Directory Server, OpenLDAP and others. This gives you choice, flexibility, and investment protection. In addition, Small Business Edition provides Active Directory extensions so Scalix-specific object classes and attributes can be created within Active Directory. With Active Directory Extensions, two new Scalix-specific tabs appear in the Active Directory Users and Computers interface (ADUC), and you can manage all Scalix users and groups using the easy and familiar ADUC interface and wizards.
Small Business Edition comes bundled with either 20 or 50 Premium Users. More Premium Users can be purchased in packs of 10 or 25. Scalix Small Business Edition provides three Standard Users for every Premium User. This ratio can be unlocked to provision an unlimited number of Standard Users with an annual Premium Support commitment. To learn the difference between Premium Users and Standard Users, visit our user types page. To see pricing details, visit our pricing page.
Upgrading from Small Business Edition to Enterprise Edition involves an in-place, license key-only upgrade that can be performed without any user disruption – even while users are logged in and active. There is a one-time, per-Premium User fee to upgrade from Small Business Edition to Enterprise Edition.
