SWA System Addesss Book

Postby psbentley » Mon May 22, 2006 5:33 am

Is there a way of stopping certain accounts from being displayed in the system address book in SWA? I know theres the feature of stopping personal information from being displayed by checking the option in the administration console but can't seem to find anything to stop the actual display name and email address from being displayed.

I only ask as I'm setting up Scalix for a customer of ours and am in the process of setting up support accounts for our helpline but don't want them displayed in the addess book for the customer to see.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Peter Bentley

That check box to not display the entry only works for outlook. I'm not sure I understand your requirement. Are the support accounts to have mailboxes on the customer's server?

Thanks,
Don

I would like to create accounts for all our individual helpdesk staff so they can log onto SAC and administer the customers users and groups. The plan was to create the users and add them into the ScalixAdmin groups so to restrict them to just the users and groups and not to allow them access to other parts of the SAC. Obviously to do that you have to create a new user account for each helpdesk staff and add them into the relevant group. In adding the new user though you seem to have to add an email address to the account. Once created the account also appears in the Address Book when looking up addresses in SWA (which is what our customers use). Ideally I don't really want the customers to see these helpdesk staff accounts in the address book so is there a way of stopping them appearing in there?

Hope that all makes sense.

Regards

Peter

Thanks for the explaination. Unfortunately, however, since you do want to have mailboxes/system directory entries for those accounts I don't have an immediate solution for you.

The good news is that the checkbox for whether or not to display in the address book will apply to SWA in our next major release due later this year. I realize that doesn't help you in the short term.

Don

Great to hear though Don. Nice to know you all take customer feedback and make positive changes in the product.

We too have the same scenario where we have accounts for SAC access, and users willl occassionally send email to those SAC access accounts (SWA users only of course).

This is doable in scalix 10... Dig into swa.properites and play around with "swa.ldap.1.filter". In my org, we put the addresses that we didn't want shown on another mailnode changed the ldap query to ignore them.

As it turns out it is possible to hide entries from swa/ldap. Please see...
