Hello,

Does the trial version of Scalix allow for one to sync with Treo/Balckberry's? If so, how does one do this?

iannai,

In Scalix 10 we support both wire and wireless syncing to Palm devices. Blackberry devices as well as Windows Mobile PDAs are supported through a wireless sync connection with our partner Notify corp.

In Scalix 11; Blackberries, Palms and Windows Mobile PDAs will be supported in both a wired sync'd and in a wireless sync modes.

Are you interested in wired or wireless sync? And out of curiosity, how many Treo/Blackberry users do you have?

Just an FYI - for future posts check the topic area of the forum. A better place to put this type of question is Scalix connect forum. For Scalix 11 we'll have to consider a wireless or PDA forum as well.

How does one acquire an eval of Notify?

I am under the assumption that filling out a request at Notify is the only way to receive an evaluation license for Notify Enterprise.

Yes contacting and requesting a trail version from Notify is the way to go.

Wireless is only supported for the Scalix Small business and Enterprise Edition. Which version are you considering?

Scalix Small business. We are working with Greg Orr at Scalix. Once we get the wireless/PIM working (Scalix with Notify), we will purchase the aforementioned version.

Thank You,

Ian

Wait...

Are you saying that in Scalix 11, you can sync treo's and blackberries wireless w/o Notify? How is it going to work?

We'll be offering an alternative solution to Notify, based on SyncML, for Scalix 11. However, this will still be an add-on product at additional cost and probably some pro's and con's as compared to the notify solution. One advantags I believe I can name - the server for this is going to run on Linux! :-)

Stay tuned please, more soon,
Florian.
