Linux Email Leader Scalix Chosen as "Emerging Star" by TiE
Scalix Executives to Address Participants at TiEcon 2005 Conference on May 13 and 14
SAN MATEO, CA — MAY 12, 2005 — Scalix, the leading provider of Linux-based email and calendaring software, has been chosen as an "Emerging Star" by TiE, one of the world's largest organizations for entrepreneurs. Scalix will be honored at the TiEcon 2005 conference to be held May 13 - 14, 2005, in Santa Clara, California.
TiE, a global not-for-profit network of over 10,000 entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurship, named Scalix as an Emerging Star in the software category. Companies were chosen based on their management team, market and industry drivers, competitive advantage, market buzz, business model, corporate development and revenues.
Scalix, founded by messaging veteran Julie Hanna Farris in 2003, has received considerable industry acclaim for its Linux-based email and calendaring platform. The company's software is in wide deployment by customers in a broad cross-section of industry and government in North America, Europe and Asia/Pacific. Scalix has consistently delivered industry-leading innovations with each new release of its software and garnered LinuxWorld's award for best messaging solution earlier this year.
The Scalix platform brings substantial email and calendar innovations to Linux, offering an alternative to proprietary messaging solutions. The richly-featured and highly reliable messaging platform blends with open and proprietary infrastructures, including Microsoft Exchange, Outlook and Active Directory to assure seamless migration with no end-user disruption. Its web email client, called Scalix Web Access, offers unmatched desktop-grade functionality and runs on a broad range of desktop platforms, including Windows, Linux, UNIX and Mac, giving customers the flexibility to use Internet Explorer or Firefox to access email, calendar and contacts.
Scalix CEO Glenn Winokur will address the audience at TiEcon 2005 on May 13 at 2:15 p.m. (Pacific Time) on a panel called "Building Great Teams for Success." Scalix founder and chief strategy officer Julie Hanna Farris will address the conference on May 14 at 12:00 noon (Pacific Time) on a panel called "Software Emerging Stars."
