Scalix Brings Industry’s Most Powerful Linux-Based Email and Calendaring Platform to European Companies

Rapidly-growing demand for Linux email solutions spurs Scalix’s entry into Europe, with an initial focus in Germany

HANNOVER, GERMANY — MARCH 15, 2004 — Scalix Corporation, which offers the industry’s most robust email and calendaring platform on Linux, said rapidly growing demand for Linux messaging solutions has prompted the company to enter the European market, with an initial focus on Germany, where Linux adoption is strongest. The company announced the opening of its office in Germany and the availability of the Scalix Email and Calendaring Platform through a network of preferred partners located throughout the region. Scalix will be demonstrating its product line at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, from March 18 through March 24 in Hall 6 A20/210.

“Integrated Email and calendaring is a key application for the large number of European companies that are migrating their IT infrastructure to Linux,” stated Thomas Uhl, Chief Executive Officer of Millenux GmbH, a Scalix Preferred Partner. “The Scalix solution is the strongest on the market today, combining an open systems architecture with rich functionality and full support for Microsoft Outlook.”

“Demand for Linux-based email and calendaring is exploding in Europe, as customers grapple with the limitations associated with costly, proprietary solutions,” said Julie Hanna Farris, Scalix’s CEO and founder. “Our European partners and customers have been anxiously awaiting the availability of the Scalix product line in Europe, which gives businesses and public sector institutions an open, flexible and cost-effective alternative. We are pleased to formalize our commitment to Europe with our first office in Germany, where Linux has particularly strong momentum.”

Scalix offers rich email and calendaring functionality on a highly reliable platform. Based on Linux and an Open Systems Architecture, Scalix helps free customers from technology and licensing lock-in. The Scalix platform scales up to support organizations with hundreds of thousands of users and scales down for offices with fewer than one hundred users, making it a viable alternative for a broad range of organizations.

Scalix software will be distributed in Germany by authorized resellers that offer extensive experience in Linux and enterprise messaging, and who are trained to sell, deploy and support the Scalix Platform in a wide variety of customer environments. Authorized resellers include 1st B'nA – GmbH, 4 Synergy GmbH, Folz Communication & Networks GmbH, FS EDV Service & Beratung GmbH, Millenux GmbH, and Vistra Industrial Software.
